Mary Welch's Father

The photo was taken in Germany in 1945 and shows my father, Joel H. Radcliffe, standing next to a box car with his foot up on the metal "step" of the car. (As you face the photo, my Dad is on the right.) He was in Company A when he was in training. Later he was in Company B, but by the time he went to Europe, he was in Company C. Also in the photo are 17 of my Dad's men, all of whom were in Company C of the 387th Infantry, 97th Division. My Dad was the Captain of Company C. He passed away on Jan. 20 of this year. He was 91 years old.

This is a photo of Company A, 52nd TR BN, taken in 1942 at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. My father, Joel H. Radcliffe, is the 12th soldier from the right in the first seated row. Later my father was in Company B and then became Captain of Company C, the position he retained until he was relieved of active duty in 1945.All these companies were part of the 387th Infantry.

This is a photo of Camp Cordes, headquarters of Company A in Japan when Company A was part of the Army of Occupation in 1945. My father, Joel H. Radcliffe, was in Company A during training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. He spent most to the war, however, as Captain of Company C. These companies were part of the 387th Infantry.
